Antimicrobial Pitaya
In country eating sreet food is a favorite past time. However street food is not always thoroughly cooked. E coli cause bacterial infections can occur in any parts of the urinary system. Antibiotics can usually conquer the infection although recurrent and chronic infection are cammon. This study aims to prove the usefulness of the pitaya stem and in particular to determine if it has an effective inhibiting effect on E coli. The study will also include a phytochemical analysis of the stem, species of bacteria normally present in human intestines.
A recently recognized strain E coli produces high levels of toxins that can damage the kidney and cause septicemia or blood poisoning. E coli diseases may develop from consuming undercooked meat and apasteurized milk or from handling food without washing one’s hands. The fruit is known to be very benifical to human health but not many studies have been conducted on the whole plant.
